How the Liquid Detergent Converter Works

The Liquid Detergent Converter divides detergent mass by product density. The default 1.05 kg/L fits standard liquid laundry detergent.

  1. Pick the product

    Laundry liquid, concentrate, dish soap, hand soap, softener and bleach differ in density.

  2. Enter the density

    Use the table or the SDS value.

  3. Enter the mass

    Type the detergent weight in kilograms.

  4. Read the liters

    Divide liters by the dose per wash for wash counts.

Liquid Detergent Converter Formula

The detergent formula is V = m ÷ ρdetergent. Washes per bottle equal volume ÷ dose per wash.

V = m ÷ ρdetergent
Washes = V (mL) ÷ Dose (mL)

Worked Examples

  • 5 kg jug: 5 ÷ 1.05 = 4.762 L.
  • Washes: 4,762 mL ÷ 35 mL = 136 washes.
  • 20 L drum of dish soap: 20 × 1.03 = 20.6 kg.

Liquid Detergent Converter Conversion Table

1 kg of liquid laundry detergent fills 952 mL. The table lists 8 household cleaning liquids.

What is a Liquid Detergent Converter?

A Liquid Detergent Converter is a calculator that converts liquid detergent and cleaner weight into volume.

Liquid detergents blend surfactants, builders, enzymes, fragrance and water. Surfactants such as linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) lift dirt from fabric and dishes.

Concentrates carry more active ingredients and less water. A higher active content raises density and cuts the dose per wash.

What are the Uses of a Liquid Detergent Converter?

There are 4 main uses of a Liquid Detergent Converter.

  • Laundromat dosing

    Operators convert drum weights into machine doses.

  • Cleaning contracts

    Contractors convert supply kg into liters per site.

  • Bottling lines

    Fillers set fill weight for a 1 L or 3 L bottle.

  • Refill stores

    Shops price refills by weight and sell by volume.
