How the Animal Feed Converter Works

Animal Feed Converter Formula
The animal feed formula is V = m ÷ ρfeed. Bin capacity in tonnes equals bin volume (m³) × ρfeed.

Worked Examples
- Layer pellets: 25 kg ÷ 0.65 = 38.46 L.
- 10 m³ feed bin of pellets: 10 × 0.60 = 6.0 t of feed.
- Days of feed: 6,000 kg ÷ (5,000 birds × 0.11 kg) = 10.9 days.

What is an Animal Feed Converter?
An Animal Feed Converter is a calculator that converts livestock and pet feed weight into storage volume using feed bulk density.
Feed mills press mash through dies to make pellets, which pack denser and flow better than loose meal. Pellet durability index (PDI) above 90% means few fines in the bin.
Feed bins are sold by volume but filled by weight. A feed with a lower bulk density fills the same bin with fewer tonnes and runs out sooner.
