How the Liquid Fertilizer Converter Works
The Liquid Fertilizer Converter divides fertilizer mass by product density. The default 1.28 kg/L matches UAN-28 (urea ammonium nitrate, 28% N).
Pick the product
Choose UAN-28, UAN-32, 10-34-0, ATS, KTS or another solution from the table.
Enter the density
Use the density from the table or the product label (lb/gal ÷ 8.345).
Enter the mass
Type the fertilizer weight in kilograms.
Read the liters
Use the result to set sprayer tanks and nutrient rates per hectare or acre.
Liquid Fertilizer Converter Formula
The liquid fertilizer formula is V = m ÷ ρ. Nutrient per liter equals ρ × nutrient %.
- ρ
- Fertilizer solution density, kg/L
- N%
- Nitrogen content by weight
Worked Examples
- UAN-28: 1,000 kg ÷ 1.28 = 781.3 L.
- Nitrogen per liter, UAN-32: 1.325 × 0.32 = 0.424 kg N/L (3.54 lb N/gal).
- Rate: 100 kg N/ha ÷ 0.358 kg N/L = 279 L/ha of UAN-28.

What is a Liquid Fertilizer Converter?
A Liquid Fertilizer Converter is a calculator that converts liquid fertilizer weight into volume and nutrient content using solution density.
Liquid fertilizers are concentrated salt solutions. Dissolved urea, ammonium nitrate, phosphates and thiosulfates push density 28–46% above water.
Fertilizer analysis lists N-P₂O₅-K₂O percentages by weight, not volume. A volume rate on a sprayer needs density to turn into a nutrient rate.
What are the Uses of a Liquid Fertilizer Converter?
There are 4 main uses of a Liquid Fertilizer Converter.
Sprayer calibration
Growers convert target kg N/ha into L/ha settings.
Tank storage
Dealers convert tonnes delivered into tank liters.
Fertigation
Greenhouses dose nutrients into irrigation by volume.
Nutrient budgets
Agronomists track applied nutrients for compliance plans.
