How the Kerosene Converter Works

The Kerosene Converter divides kerosene mass by its density at the stated temperature. The default 0.81 kg/L fits heating kerosene at 15°C (59°F).

  1. Enter the mass

    Type the kilograms of kerosene.

  2. Correct for temperature

Kerosene loses about 0.0007 kg/L per °C; outdoor tanks in winter run denser.

  3. Read the liters

The result shows the kerosene volume.

  4. Check gallons

Use the table to read US and imperial gallons.

Kerosene Converter Formula

The kerosene formula is V = m ÷ ρ(T), with ρ(T) ≈ 0.81 − 0.0007 × (T − 15).

V = m ÷ ρ(T)
ρ(T) ≈ 0.810 − 0.0007 × (T − 15)

Worked Examples

  • At 15°C: 100 kg ÷ 0.810 = 123.46 L.
  • At −5°C: ρ = 0.824 kg/L, so 100 kg = 121.36 L.
  • At 30°C: ρ = 0.7995 kg/L, so 100 kg = 125.08 L.

Kerosene Converter Conversion Table

1 kg of kerosene equals 1.235 liters at 15°C. The table converts kerosene masses into metric and US units.

What is a Kerosene Converter?

A Kerosene Converter is a calculator that converts kerosene weight into volume using kerosene density at a given temperature.

Kerosene, called paraffin in the UK, is a distillate boiling between 150°C and 275°C. Grade 1-K kerosene under ASTM D3699 holds no more than 0.04% sulfur for indoor heaters.

Kerosene shares a base with Jet A-1 aviation fuel. Heating kerosene skips the strict additive and testing rules that apply to jet fuel.

What are the Uses of a Kerosene Converter?

There are 4 main uses of a Kerosene Converter.

  • Space heaters

Users convert kerosene cans into heater tank fills.

  • Lamps and stoves

Households convert bulk purchases into lamp refills.

  • Parts cleaning

Workshops convert drum weights into wash tank volume.

  • Fuel aid

Agencies convert kerosene tonnage into household rations.
